Haunted Hayride, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Q: How do I get there?

A: Click the tab "Contact Us." 

Q: What days will you be open?

A: Sept. 27 - Oct. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30, 31 - Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8

Q: Hours you will be open?

A: The ticket counter will open at 6:30 p.m. and closes at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. (Some select Thursdays) The ticket counter will open from 11:30 a.m. til 3:30 p.m. on select Sundays for Children's day and open again from 6:30 p.m. til 10:30 p.m. on Sunday nights for regular rides.

Q: How much does it cost?

A:  For Hayrides $12.00 per person. For Fright Hike $10.00 per person.  Select Ziplines $5.00 to $15.00.

Q: How scary is the Haunted Hayride and Fright Hike?

A: It's scary. There are plenty of surprises and "around the corner" scares (and sets) designed to keep your heart racing and adrenaline pumping. It's not for the faint of heart.

The Haunted Hayride is not recommended for children under 10 years of age. It is a high scare, high startle content experience. There will be no refunds after a ticket is purchased and a patron has entered the Hayride.

The Hayride and Fright Hike are NOT recommended for people with heart or back problems, pregnant woman, people prone to seizures or anyone who has an affliction that is made worse by fear, anxiety or flashing lights. Also, this event is NOT recommended for anyone who has health issues that can be made worse or aggravated by riding this ride and/or any other form of participation.

Q: Is there a parking fee?

A: Nope. Parking is free but limited.

Q: How long does it take?

A: The Haunted Hayride typically runs approximately 25 minutes. It can run up to 35 minutes. All other attractions are variable.

Q: What rules must I follow while visiting the FrightMare?

A: For your safety and the safety of other customers and our employees, we have a number of basic rules which must be followed at all times: Please...........

  • NO SMOKING on the wagon or inside the attractions at any time.
  • No food or beverages on the wagon.
  • Do not stand on the wagon.
  • Do not leave the wagon at any time. Anyone leaving the wagon during the Hayride will be escorted from the premises.
  • Children 10 and up (or those who scare easily) should sit in the middle of the wagon.
  • No running.... The terrain is uneven.
  • No intentional touching of actors.
  • No flash cameras or video photography allowed.
  • No throwing things.
  • No flashlights or lighters are allowed to be used on/in any attractions.
  • Please refrain from going to the bathroom inside any of the attractions.
  • Do NOT bring any weapons, alcoholic beverages, or pets to the Hayrides.
  • Do not wear open-toed shoes or flip-flops.
  • Individuals who appear intoxicated will be removed from the venue, with absolutely no exceptions

Q: Is the Haunted Hayrides wheelchair accessible?

A: Not entirely. The Hayride and most other attractions are accessible. The Fright Hike is not wheelchair accessible due to woodland and sloping terrain and elements an individual may encounter.

Q: Can I wear my own costume to the Haunted Hayride?

A: Costumes are okay, but masks are not allowed for the safety of our employees and guests. Whatever you do don't dress like a zombie, you may get shot.

Q: Is there a different admission price for children?

A: No.

Q: Is it appropriate for children?

A: Only you know how bold your children are, but no one under fifteen(15) will be admitted without a parent or guardian; children under 15 are strongly cautioned. NO CHILDREN UNDER 10 WILL BE ADMITTED! It is actually designed to scare the more fearless adult. Parents know what their kids can handle, but if we feel that an adult is forcing a kid to participate against their will, we'll intervene. Remember, there are no refunds. No children under 10 will be admitted, no matter what!

Q: Is there a dress code?

A: The Fright Hike is somewhat physically challenging- There is uneven footing. It's very dark, there are lots of twists and turns. Don't wear high heels or skimpy sandals or gigantic platform shoes or clothes that keep you from moving freely. Your shoes may get stepped on and your clothes might get mussed. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes! Dress for the weather. It's all outside!!!

Q: Is there a long wait?

A: Even if you have reservations you will wait for a little while. The timing ain't perfect, and even if you buy for a certain half hour the intention is that you will go sometime during that half-hour even if we are running perfectly. For example, If you bought a ticket for 7:30 it is our intention to get you in between 7:30 and 7:59. But to be honest, the later in the night it gets, the later that will be stretched out. We do a pretty good job of keeping on schedule, but any little abnormality extends the time ever so slightly. Pay upon reservation.

Q: Will I be able to leave the Haunted Hayride if I get too scared?

A: No! Close your eyes and take the ride. You may leave the Fright Hike, BUT there are NO refunds.

Q: I bought a ticket in advance, but can't make it. May I get a refund or switch my ticket to a different time or day?

A: Sorry. There are NO refunds or exchanges. It is just too difficult to administer on that level. We have many, many people going through every day. So many that it is nearly impossible to address the issues of people who were supposed to have already gone.

Q: Do you offer a less scary option?

A: Yes we do offer a less scary Saturday afternoon Hayride on select Saturdays. ( see Children's Day schedule.)

Q: What if it rains or snows? Will Haunted Hayride close if the weather is too bad?

A: We will do our best to post an update on Social Media in the event of closure due to weather. Be sure to refresh your page for the most current information. In the event of closure due to severe weather, purchased tickets can be redeemed on another night.

Q: Do you use live rodents, snakes, animals, bugs, real weapons, real chainsaw, etc.?

A: Why do you ask? Are you scared? Are you a yellow-bellied chicken? Stop being such a baby and just enjoy the show!

Q: What kind of effects should I expect?

A: There will be blood, demons, ghost, phantoms, zombies, violence, gore, loud noises, gunfire, chainsaws, strobe lights, darkness, smoke, fire, and destruction. You may get a little water sprayed on you.

Q: If they scare me, can I hit them, Kick them, and Scream at them?

A: Scream all you want- That's the fun of it. If you assault any of our staff, Floyd county Sheriff officers will take you directly to jail.

Q: Will I be injured, tortured, dismembered, or killed at your event?

A: We go to great lengths to provide a fun, safe experience for our guests. If you follow our rules, stay on the wagon, follow the direction of your wagon guides and do not touch the employees or scenery, you will make it through safely.

Q: Can I take pictures or video?

A: No flash photography is allowed on the Hayride. General Photography is fine. Press members must obtain permission at least 24 hours in advance for any filming.

Q: Will Haunted Hayride "actors" touch me?

A: Unlike other Haunted attractions, you WILL be touched. You may be shocked, exposed to the elements, etc. We cannot give away all the secrets, but you get the idea.

Q: Can I use my credit card there?

A: Yes!

Q: I made a reservation and paid in advance. Do I need to visit the ticket counter?

A: Yes!

Q: Is there an ATM at the venue?

A: NO!

Q: Are there restrooms?

A: There are porta-potties.

Q: Is there a second "event" this year?

A: You will be regaled and entertained while awaiting entry into the haunt by the performers in the waiting area most of the night.

Q: Are there restrictions for pregnant women or people with health problems?

A: In general you need to be in good physical condition to survive the attraction of the Haunted Hayride. Please consult your doctor to find out if an intense experience is appropriate for your condition. Do not enter if you suspect your health is at risk. You should not enter with the following conditions: Pregnancy, Heart conditions, Nausea, Obesity, Back problems, Epilepsy, Breathing Problems, Bladder control loss.

Q: I lost my phone/jewelry/shoes on the Hayride. Can you help me find it?

A: Please make sure any items you bring are securely in your pocket at all times... better yet leave them in your car. We will NOT be able to check for lost items while attractions are open. Your lost items might not be found til the end of the night or the next morning. Sometimes not til the end of the season. If you might have dropped an item inside one of our attractions, Please e-mail us with the details. Haunted Hayrides at Daredevil Ziplines are NOT responsible for any personal items lost on the property.

Q: Why do you have so many rules?

A: All rules are strictly enforced for the safety of our guests. Anyone violating the rules may be asked to leave the property with or without warning, and without refund.

Due to the intense nature of this experience, we have adopted a Strong Policy regarding adherence to these rules, which are intended to keep you, other customers and our actors safe. Our Strong Policy is a zero tolerance for violation of any of these rules. Violation WILL result in immediate removal from the venue. NO REFUNDS!!!!!

Keep in mind that this is farm operated in a rural, rustic setting and natural environments.. you may encounter uneven terrain, rock, and possibly areas of mud on the Hayride attraction (if it has rained heavily prior to your entry); also, if you leave the wagon or trail you will not be able to see and will most likely encounter brush, trees, stones and other items inherent to being in the woods, or staging materials inherent to a stage production. Please obey both common sense and established rules of each attraction while visiting.

Q: I want to work for Frightmare, where do I apply?

A: We will be posting information about auditions early in September on our home page, as well as all of our social media networks. Here you can apply for a role in the house, to perform on the Frightmare stage, or to work on staff. There will be two days in mid-September. This is the only way to apply- to show up on one of these two days. So look for our notices.
